Luxembourg's development cooperation in Afghanistan
Via the German foundation PATRIP, Luxembourg's development cooperation programme supports the Danish NGO Mission East, which installs common sanitation facilities and running water in border villages in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, thereby helping to improve the standard of living. The contribution amounts to 850,000 euro a year.
The Luxembourg Development Cooperation supports various agriculture and rural development initiatives through the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). In particular, it is supporting a project in Afghanistan in the food security sector. The overall objective of this project is to fight malnutrition and food insecurity. Launched in 2009, the project is now in its third phase. Since then, Luxembourg has contributed 6.506.050 EUR to this project.
